Breast Malformation and Asymmetry

Not every breast develops evenly. Marked differences in size or shape, a tuberous (tube-shaped) breast or an absence of breast and muscle tissue can be corrected surgically, depending on the findings.

Common forms

In a tuberous breast the breast base is narrow, the breast looks tube-shaped and the areola is often enlarged. In marked asymmetry the breasts differ clearly in size, shape or position. In Poland syndrome parts of the pectoral muscle, and often breast tissue too, are missing on one side.

Options for correction

Depending on the findings, options include implants, a breast lift, autologous fat or a combination. Several steps are often needed to achieve a balanced result. Planning is individual and follows a medical examination. For an initial assessment, we can send you a secure way to submit photos on request.

Note on risks

The general and implant-related risks apply, as with Breast augmentation and Breast lift. A completely symmetrical result cannot always be achieved.

Frequently asked questions

Is the treatment paid for by health insurance?

For malformations with disease value, costs may in part be covered in Germany. For operations abroad, this is usually not the case. Please ask your health insurer in advance.

From what age can surgery be performed?

The breast should be fully developed. The doctor in charge decides this.
