Consultation with CZ-Wellmed
It begins with an honest, personal conversation. We explain the procedure, risks and alternatives, suggest suitable clinics and answer your questions about the process and costs. You can reach us Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 7 pm, Fridays from 8 am to 4:30 pm and Saturdays from 12 to 2 pm on 07161 304 8150, also via WhatsApp. If you wish, we will send you our information pack.
Booking and reservation
Together we agree on a preferred date and reserve it. You can find short-notice available dates in the appointment calendar. Depending on the clinic and procedure, the waiting time is a few weeks; in some cases short-notice dates are also possible.
Surgery arrangement order and deposit
With the Surgery arrangement order you bindingly instruct us to reserve the date. Once it is received, we usually confirm the date and price to you within two to three working days. A deposit is required for confirmation; we will tell you the deadlines and the amount with the appointment confirmation. You usually pay the remaining balance directly at the clinic. You can find the conditions in the Terms and conditions and in the withdrawal information.
Travelling to the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is easy to reach from Germany and Austria: by car via the motorway (vignette required), by train, long-distance coach or plane, for example to Prague or Brno. After larger procedures you should not drive home yourself, so please plan for someone to accompany you. If you wish, we can arrange a pick-up service from the airport or station (chargeable). Please let us know your arrival times and flight details in good time. We will also help you find an affordable connection.
Accommodation for you and your companion
You will usually spend the night before the operation in a hotel or guesthouse near the clinic. If you wish, we will book rooms for you and your companion. Please tell us your wishes as early as possible, at the latest 14 days before the procedure. Some clinics also offer guest rooms for companions.
Preparation and requirements
For an operation under general anaesthetic you will usually need:
- an internal medicine examination including health questionnaire, physical examination and ECG
- laboratory values: full blood count, electrolytes, liver and kidney values, blood clotting
- written clearance for surgery from your doctor
At many clinics the examination can also take place on site on the day of surgery. Some clinics, for example Budweis, require it in advance from your family doctor, and the results must not be older than 14 days. For procedures under local anaesthetic it is usually not necessary.
The following also applies: no antibiotics or blood-thinning medication such as aspirin for two weeks before the operation, significantly reduce alcohol and tobacco, and no acute infections on the day of surgery. People under 18 and people whose last general anaesthetic was less than eight weeks ago will not be operated on. If you have pre-existing conditions, please clarify your fitness for surgery with your family doctor beforehand. You will receive the exact requirements with your documents.
Follow-up cost insurance
Complications or follow-up treatment can arise after the operation. Follow-up cost insurance can cover the costs this causes. You can read which types of cover exist and what to look out for under Follow-up cost insurance. For information on financing the operation, see Financing.
Surgery and clinic stay
On the day of surgery you will have a conversation with your doctor, discuss your wishes, planning and risks, and sign the consent form. The procedure then follows. Depending on the operation, you will either go home the same day or stay in the clinic for one to two nights, where nursing staff will look after you. Doctors and staff speak German or English.
Aftercare and scar treatment
Aftercare depends on the operation. After breast surgery you wear a support bra, and the check-up after about 10 to 14 days is carried out by your family doctor. Scar treatment can support the healing process. If you have questions or notice anything unusual, we and the clinic are there for you.
